friday night we went on a double date with our nebraskan-turned-atlantan friends at the iberian pig. the food was once again exceptional, as was the service. our favorite tapas were the pork cheek tacos, braised veal shank ravioli, and the confit chicken among others. we washed it down with their white sangria, which was perfect. and then we headed over to butter and cream, for some incredible ice-cream. there, matt took over the camera and took some surprisingly lovely photos. enjoy.

grandmammies and grambears
despite the 30 year pause in flying and notorious motion sickness, my grandmammie flew into atlanta last friday for a 5 day weekend. it had been quite a while since we had spent so much time together, even though we have lived together for a total of 2 1/2 years of my life (while in college and when I was a baby). i used to spend almost every other saturday night with her: shopping at talbots, watching an old movie, eating dinner, chatting with her elderly neighbor, etc. they are all very happy memories.
a few months ago, we were excited to know that gram had found tickets and was willing to come for fall break. we had incredible pizza at slice and pint (the carlos was unbelievably delicious), spectacular ice-cream at butter and cream (the cashew creme brulee and bourbon toffee were divine), perfect latkes and bagels at the nearby bagel palace, etc. thanks for making your way over to the humid southern jungle, grandma 🙂
top 5 reasons to visit savannah tomorrow
this was a lovely little trip that i took with matt’s parents after we moved. savannah was delightful. i don’t know if i would have gone had it not been with matt’s parents. however, since going, i will definitely be taking more time to visit this dreamy southern town. the eateries are all delicious. leopold’s icecream was lusciously smooth and incredibly flavorful: we went there 3 times in 3 days. another interesting place we ate at was located in an old boarding house: mrs. wilkes (even the current president enjoyed a southern meal there with all the fixings).
even though matt’s parents are incredibly energetic and new-place-explorer extraordinaires and i am not always, they are so helpful in pushing me to visit and see new areas that i would have never known about. so thanks, papa and mama b. for your vivacious spirits and research. you guys are amazing.
p.s. one of my favorite parts of the trip was taking a midnight scooter ride with matt’s cousin through the historical sections. looping around the squares under a starry sky was breathtaking. the air was fresher and the streets still. we sat in swings next to a graveyard talking about life. waved at plastered bachelorette parties swaying on sidewalks. laughed at the pure freedom and bliss unhindering our view of the beautiful surroundings. it was a moment when time stopped and the moon and the road were our closest friends.
